Look out for Eroica Britannia 2017, coming soon to the Peak District. The vintage cycling festival held in Bakewell for the last 3 years, returns to the Derbyshire Dales this year, but at a new venue: Friden Grange, Newhaven on 16-18 June 2017.
It’s not just about the riding though – Last year around 40,000 people attended the three day festival with its unique mix of vintage bikes, elaborate fancy dress, live music, bike jumbles, bars, eateries and merry making.
There are three routes of different lengths to choose from, all passing through stunning scenery and for those who can face more pedalling, an organised illuminated twilight ride to a local pub on the Friday night. As well as all the cycling, this year’s Eroica Britannia promises 3-days of live music, including headliners such as ABC and Norman Jay MBE on the main stage. There will also be plenty of opportunities to shop and to indulge yourself in excellent food and drink. There’s even an adventure kids’ club, in fact everything you need for a great British adventure for the whole family.
If you’re planning to attend, you’d better remember the golden rules: Bikes must be from 1987 or earlier and clothing must be of an appropriate era to the bike. That gives you loads of scope to be as eccentric as you want to be and we’re looking forward to seeing lots of boaters, blazers, tweeds, waxed moustaches and maybe the odd penny farthing passing through Tideswell village; just a short walk from Candlelight Cottage…
