Getting here without a car

Candlelight Cottage is a great place to spend a holiday without a car. Public transport links are good, shopping can be organised in advance of your stay and the network of local buses and trains means that you’ll have no problem getting around once you are here. If you take the green option, here’s how to make the most of your stay:

Getting here is easy:

Air:

Our nearest airport is Manchester, but East Midlands, Liverpool, Leeds/Bradford and Birmingham are convenient alternatives. Car hire can be arranged from all of these airports or you can continue your journey by train and bus. We are always very happy to help with route planning from any UK airport. Please just ask!

Train:

Our nearest mainline stations are Chesterfield, Sheffield and Manchester. Smaller stations include Buxton and all of the stops along the Hope Valley line, which runs between Sheffield and Manchester.

Bus:

A number of bus routes run through Litton village and connect directly with Chesterfield, Sheffield and Buxton, so being a green traveller is a very practical option. Details of bus timetables can be found at Buses – Derbyshire County Council and Peak Connections

Also, you may find traveline.info helpful in planning your journey.

Please see our Things to do without a car page for those arriving on public transport. It’s packed with information on everything from how to arrange your shopping in advance, to what to see when you are here.
